Wow....where did 2009 go?!
The Lets Face It! was rained off due to the bad weather - it was thought that 70mph winds and driving rain would be a bit of a health & safety risk while tring to trim back trees and branches around the pond....I have to say that I whole heartedly agreed!! We will arrange another date as the teenagers are still very keen on this project and we are also looking to organise one for Ifield Green - more details to follow.
We are also very proud that the conservation area in Ifield won an award at the Lets Face It! awards ceremony for 2009 - confirmation of the hard work, care and dedication that has gone into looking after this historic area of Crawley.
Ifield Parade works have now started as you will all see from the equipment and fencing - this will be a massive improvement to the shopping parade and with improved parking and toilet facilities, both traders and shoppers alike will benefit. We are hoping that the issue with the Launderette site will soon be resolved - I will keep you all updated on the progress.
The Environment Agency have now started remedial works on Tilgate Lake, this is the first of many projects that are being completed by the Agency - with Ifield Mill Pond being next! As we progress along the works I will do my best to keep you informed.
After 12 months of Outreach work by Steve Pearson & Steve Hemmings in Ifield West - the Young People formed a steering group and finally opened the doors on the New Wybourne Youth Club in the community centre in Dobbins Place in December 2009 - the steering group (made up of Steve Hemmings and a group of Young People) have done a fantastic job in getting this project off the ground!
